Mayor David Miller joins Toronto’s hottest Latin Stars to aid Latin America’s poorest children

Toronto, Nov. 26, 2003: While the temperature may be dropping outside it’s bound to be hot inside at Lula Lounge on November 27th as Pueblito stages its Annual iFiesta! fundraiser to help the Toronto based organization to continue its Early Childhood Development programs in Latin America.

Comedian Martha Chaves - Juan Carlos Cardenas and Cache Toronto’s favorite Latin dance band headline a night of fun and dancing as only Latino’s can do it. Mix salsa lessons, salsa food a fabulous auction , Toronto’s newly elected Mayor David Miller with that warm feeling that comes from helping Publito’s children and their families to survive and thrive and . . . at $30.00 this is clearly THE event to put you in the Christmas spirit.

Extreme poverty robs young children of their right to survive and thrive. Creating a foundation for life through Early Childhood Development, Pueblito works with families and communities in Latin America, to support the growth of healthy and happy children.

Following on the success of this falls ART WORKS program, Pueblito’s Fiesta features hilarious Nicaraguan-born stand-up comedian Ms. Martha Chaves as Master of Ceremonies, Martha’s hectic schedule includes performing to live audiences with Stars like Gloria Estefan. Her TV appearances include CBC's "City Beat" and "COMICS!” WTN's "She's So Funny" and the Comedy Network's "Open Mike with Mike Bullard". Martha is a champion of women’s issues and produces and hosts the all-female multimedia extravaganza, “Revolutionary Muses”.

Then, dance your heart out to the live Latin rhythms of Caché, considered to be THE group for the Salsa dancers of Toronto. Fronted by Venezuelan born singer Juan Carlos Cardenas, CACHÉ features 8 of Toronto's most experienced Jazz musicians dedicated to the vintage salsa sound of the 1970's.

In addition Andres Correo, a popular Latin Artist whose specialty is painting to music, will captivate the audience as he creates a work of art LIVE to Caché’s hot rhythms. Guests will have an opportunity to bid on this talented artist’s work in the Auction later in the evening.

Pueblito’s Executive Director Miriam Castaneda says that, “Without Pueblito’s Early Childhood Development programs and services in Latin America, young children from very poor families would be left a home usually unsupervised because their mothers or caregivers do not have the resources to provide them with appropriate care and attention as they struggle to help their family survive.”

(CIDA) the Canadian International Development Agency calls Pueblito, “… a serious, dynamic, responsible, experienced organization with all the means at its disposal to obtain the best results in the field of Early Childhood Development. It deserves to be supported by the public and adequately backed by Canada’s official development
